Bôi Tuyết's "Hoàng Thượng Thay Ta Trạch Đấu" tells the story of Mạnh Phất, the wife of Tuyên Bình Hầu. She manages household affairs, honors and respects her husband, and must also deal with the jealousness of his concubines. She does all the things expected of a dutiful wife, but still... fails to gain her husband's affection.

Mạnh Phất does not love Tuyên Bình Hầu, but she does not feel sad about it. She simply assumes she'll live a peaceful life until one day she wakes up to someone calling her "your Majesty".
